designer Brandon Williams looking to the side and laughing

Brandon Williams, Founding Partner

Brandon Williams is an interdisciplinary designer whose talents and project experience span industrial design, visual identity and branding work. He's also a mechanical engineer skilled at hands-on fabrication, and can make almost anything. He’s been honing his techniques since childhood, growing up on a farm in rural Indiana and contributing to the family manufacturing business. His design for Float, an innovative under-cabinet utensil holder he designed while in grad school, was brought to market by Umbra in 2017.

Brandon served as a faculty member and designer in residence at Northwestern University’s Segal Design Institute where he taught a range of classes in human-centered design and co-led the masters program thesis studio for Engineering, Design & Innovation. He also regularly led workshops on prototyping for digital experiences at The Kellogg School of Management.

While Brandon is no longer involved in the day-to-day operations of Welcome Industries, he continues to be a key ad-hoc contributor and we will forever be grateful for his phenomenal talents. These days, he is working full time designing furniture at Polywood in Indiana and focused on raising his three young kids.
